CHAMPS
In order to support student achievement in the classroom using Positive Behavior Intervention and Support (PBIS), online training in the area of classroom management is being offered to teachers.
There are four online modules using CHAMPs for grades K-8, and Discipline in the Secondary Classroom (DSC) for grades 9-12.
The four online modules have been created using the CHAMPs and Discipline in the Secondary Classroom books and focus on using best practices in the classroom to support student engagement, classroom management, and positive behavior support in the classroom.
The four modules are presented in the following order and are presented as either CHAMPs for K-8 teachers OR Discipline in the Secondary Classroom (DSC) for 9-12 teachers:
- Module 1: “Fundamentals of CHAMPs and Discipline in the Secondary Classroom” (This module is for both elementary and secondary teachers.)
- Module 2: “CHAMPs: Vision, Organization, and Expectations” or “DSC: Vision, Organization, and Expectations”
- Module 3: “CHAMPs: Motivation, Correction Procedures, and Classwide Motivation System” or “DSC: Motivation, Correction Procedures, and Classwide Motivation System”
- Module 4: “CHAMPs: Boosting Classroom Management: The Power of Data” or “DSC: Boosting Classroom Management: The Power of Data”
- CHAMPs Book Request
The modules address classrooms with students with disabilities ranging from Kindergarten to grade 12. Through these online modules, participants will:
- Learn how best practices in classroom management align with Positive Behavior Support for all students.
- Gain an understanding of the framework of CHAMPs and Discipline in the Secondary Classroom (DSC).
- Build an understanding of core principles that guide effective classroom management.
- Learn the importance of using and collecting data to support effective classroom management.
This training is only available through the Learning Zone and can be accessed at any time. All teachers serving students with behavioral challenges are strongly encouraged to access and complete these online trainings.
Complete the CHAMPS MyPLN Training by using the links below for easy access. Certificates due to Main Office.
1. Log on to the MyPLN using your Single Sign-On, from Course Catalog, enter CHAMPS as the Course Name.
2. Choose the following Titles to complete
